Dry Ration and Clothes Distribution To Poor People at Slum Area Losal (Near New Power House Losal) – 03 June 2023
In the late hours of May 25th, an unseasonably strong storm and heavy rains unleashed havoc upon Rajasthan, causing widespread damage to vulnerable communities. One of the hardest-hit groups were the homeless individuals belonging to the Scheduled Tribe community near Beed, Losal, located near the new power house. The storm demolished their makeshift homes, leaving them bereft of possessions, food supplies, and clothing. Beyond the physical destruction, this calamity also disrupted their sense of security and well-being.
Responding to the urgent need, Umang Foundation (Registered), Ganeshpura (Sikar), recognized the criticality of their mission. With ‘Umang’ meaning ‘enthusiasm’ in Hindi, the foundation aimed to rekindle hope where it had been lost and provide compassionate assistance to those in need.
Upon assessing the extensive damage, Umang Foundation promptly contacted the district collector and the Rajasthan government, making online and offline pleas for urgent assistance for the affected communities. However, realizing that immediate action was imperative, they took matters into their own hands. Leveraging their resources and the generosity of their community, they initiated relief efforts to provide immediate assistance to the affected families.As part of their relief operation, Umang Foundation focused on aiding 47 of the most affected families, comprising approximately 200 individuals.
Their dedicated team worked diligently to organize and distribute essential supplies. Dry ration, including wheat flour and dal, formed a significant component of the relief package, aiming to provide nourishment to the families during this challenging period. Additionally, recognizing the unique needs of the women in these families, the foundation also ensured the distribution of female-specific clothing, emphasizing the importance of maintaining their comfort and dignity.
Umang Foundation extends profound gratitude to the unwavering support of their volunteers, donors, and community members. Every contribution, regardless of its size, has directly impacted the lives of the affected families, offering them some comfort during their time of distress. The collective efforts of the foundation and its supporters have brought a ray of hope into the lives of those affected, reminding them that they are not alone in their struggles.
