Umang Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to education, empowerment, and equality, recently conducted an event in the Losal slum area of Beed. The event aimed to provide support and assistance to the people residing in the slum area who lack access to basic amenities and government benefits.
The event, which took place on 24th & 25 March 2023, was attended by a team of workers from Umang Foundation and Yexita Emitra. On the first day of the event, 24 March 2023, Mr. Omprakash Tetarwal, Yexita E-Mitra, Losal, prepared check/documents of the residents of the slum area. It was found that many of them did not have their required documents, and a list of such persons was prepared. The team discovered that about 30 illiterate children needed schooling, and a list of such children was attached. The team distributed some books among the children at no cost for study purposes. It was also decided to arrange a part-time teacher at the slum area from 01 April 2023 onwards to teach the children who were illiterate.
On the second day of the event, 25 March 2023, a general awareness lecture was delivered by Mr. Sukha Ram Bhawaria about documentation and government benefit schemes. The parents were motivated to get their children admitted to the Ganeshpura Government School. They agreed to the proposal, and their children were admitted to the school.
In addition, the team distributed clothes to seven aged and needy women, including one set of Rajasthani Lugdi, Ghagra, and blouse piece to each. At the end of the program, food was served to all members of the slum area.
